Featured Friday: Anka Zhuravleva’s Distorted gravity

I’m always intruiged by photographs of people suspended in mid air. Came across these photographs of Anka Zhuravleva, from her ‘Distorted gravity’ series. Of course I couldn’t help adding the one with the Sphynx cat in it… More to see on her website.
Have a great weekend, everyone!

Working on ‘Catlady’ illustration

Been thinking about doing a catlady illustration for a while. These are two of my attempts, the first in pencil and watercolour/ink and the second in India ink, using a dip pen (I have another three I’m not even going to show you, eek). So yes, still work in progress… As this topic is close to my heart and I know quite a lot of catladies (you know who you are), I really want to get it right!

New brooches with bright blue thread

Just listed three new brooches in my Etsy shop. As it is spring (finally), I spiced things up a little by using some bright blue thread! Annnd one of the brooches has a boy squirrel on it (he has an Adam’s apple, really, what were you thinking! Hehehe), new to the shop.

Featured Friday: Illustration that makes me giggle

Images: Lizzy Stewart, Peter Harren and Gemma Correll.

You know when sometimes you just need a little pick-me-up? These illustrators so do that for me. They look at every day life and manage to find the humorous side of it:

Lizzy Stewart
Besides making really lovely illustrations, she also has a very dry sense of humor.
I can’t help but grin when looking at her diary drawings.
Visit her website, blog and Etsy shop.
Her new zine ‘Solo’ is out now! You can buy it (and others) here.

Peter Harren
What can I say? I laughed out loud the first time I saw his ‘Dance with no pants’ illustration…
Website, blog and Etsy shop.

Gemma Correll
She seems to be everywhere. Although, I only discovered her about a year ago, by this link my boyfriend sent me (apparently he thought it was appropiate; I just started drawing again and, well… This made me laugh at myself). I call her the Queen of Puns (she’s brilliant at making ‘bad’ puns).
If you can’t laugh at any of her drawings, there could be something seriously wrong (really, go see someone about that)…
Visit her website: her sketchbook‘s very funny. And her blog).

Bad Drawings of my daily life
is gathering quite a following on Twitter, and deservedly so. These drawings are sometimes sooo bad, yet sooo funny. They seem to be brightening up everyones day now.
Visit their Tumblr.
I also suggested a drawing once. This is what they came up with.

Well, I hope this weeks (belated) Featured Friday cheered up your day too. Have a good weekend!

Received a Kreativ Blogger award

Thank you, Jen of Onehappylittlemama for passing on the Kreative torch and honouring me with a Kreativ Blogger award!

The rules for receiving this award:
1. Thank the blogger who gave you the award and provide a link. (did that)
2. List 7 things about yourself that your readers might find interesting. (hit the link below)
3. Nominate 7 other bloggers, provide links, and let them know (I promised myself I wasn’t going to do that anymore; not because I don’t like other bloggers obviously, lol, but because… well, please read my reasoning in the post, link below:)

Read my post on the other two awards I received: here.

New look for brooches in my Etsy shop

Just changed the photo’s of the brooches in my Etsy shop to ones with cards. What do you think?
Got some new brooches lined up already: cats and (boy) squirrels! And even a few brooches with coloured thread, as it’s spring(ish).
Oh and i’m working on a new illustration. This one’s close to my heart (yep, cliffhanger again).
I’ll keep you posted!
